Herbs And Weight Loss

If you are like me, then you are always trying to keep your weight in check. As we get older it  seems  we pack on the weight  faster than losing it. But let me share a few natural herbal remedies that can help curb your appetite.

Chickweed tea- helps to rev up the metabolism along with its many other benefits. Drink a few cups of this tea and watch the pounds start to drop.

Bee Pollen is another herbal remedy but to be honest, I didn’t find any research where it actually helps with weight loss. However, it has other benefits, but nothing relating to weight.

Coconut oil- heats up your metabolism which then burns calories. It is tasty and you can just about add it to any meal that requires some form of oil.

Green Tea- stimulates the metabolism and does help with dieting

Fenugreek- is another herb that helps with weight loss. This herb you can get in tablet form or tea.

A few other herbs that help with dieting or just keeping an eye on your weight are:
Ginger, Alfalfa, chicory root, Brown mustard seed, Anise, and citrus peel. Combine one or more of these herbs together than you have a powerhouse drink.

Check your local health food stores for these herbs and try them out.

Natural Constipation Remedies

Constipation is a very uncomfortable feeling and when the stools become hard and dry it makes it worse to try and eliminate them. Constipation is caused by loss of enough the muscle contractions that help to move food through the digestive system.

When constipation occurs it is due to undigested food that moves too slowly in the large intestines and stops the body’s process to  empty the bowels. The stools build up and remains in contact with the intestines which absorbs the extra water drying out the stool.

Bloating, gas, and discomfort sets in. There are a few natural remedies that you can do to help get yourself going. Warm water usually triggers the muscles to contract and helps stimulate the bowels.

There are herbs that are known as “alterative herbs”( that restore your bowels to a normal health) that can be effective in relieving cases of chronic constipation. The dried roots of yellow dock, dandelion, burdock root, and Oregon grape. These herbs are bitter, but when consumed, they can promote digestion, stomach acidity, and bile flow.

You can purchase these herbs in tincture form and use 1 dropper 3-7 times a day.
Flaxseed provides fiber with essential oils that help to lubricate and soften the stools.
Figs also provide fiber and aids in digestion.

As always, check with your doctor before using any herbal tinctures or supplements.

Suffering With Brittle Nails?

Do You Suffer With Brittle Nails?

If you are like me, you like a nice manicured nail that you can show off without hiding your hands. But brittle nails can certainly make you feel self conscious about your hands.

Our nails are made out of “keratin” which is responsible for the firmness of the nail. When there is a lock, or deficiency in keratin, the nails become brittle and split. A keratin deficiency can be caused either by malnutrition or it can be from low stomach acid.

Some circulatory disorders, mineral and protein deficiencies, and even a lack of vitamin C has been known to affect the healthy nail growth. Brittle or split nails can be caused by long term exposure to chemicals that are in detergents.

Brittle nails are often in women than men, and to prevent and correct brittle nails, try natural remedy teas and finger baths to help strengthen the nails. Regular filing and nail care will help prevent nail damage.

Herbal teas to drink- nettle leaves, horsetail herb, chamomile blossoms, and yarrow. Drink a cup of any of these teas 3 times a day. These teas are high in minerals, and are anti-inflammatory as well.

Traditional Chinese medicine

Using Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese medicine has been used for thousands of years and it had first been recorded in the “Yellow Emperor’s Classic book of Internal Medicine between 400 B.C. and 200 B.C.

This type of medicine is based on the free flow of all life force Qi- which is reflected in all living and thinking as well as in the blood, circulation, and vision.

There is a wide range of healing methods such as: massage, acupuncture, diet, and remedies made from natural herbs. What the doctors did to examine a patient is to use the tongue and pulse to diagnose.

Qi- is a mixture of what we receive from heaven, the earth, and the air and from water and food. Qi is our life force and it flows through the body. By paying attention to the small signals you receive from your body will provide valuable information to help you.

Using Medicinal Herbs

Using medicinal herbs in many forms, these herbs can be used in ointments, salves, bath additives, sleep pillows, gargles syrups, infused oils and teas to name a few.

Which type of natural remedy you use depends on the herbal plant, the person who will be using it and the condition plus the symptoms.

Preparing your own herbal remedies is economical and you have an actual pharmacy at your fingertips. Just date and list the ingredients for all the remedies. Or you can purchase herbs in your health food store or online.

Medicinal herbs are an excellent way to treat your ailments and eliminate adding chemicals to your body.

Effects Of Grief

Every part of your health and behavior is affected by grief. Those that are grieving are suffering with
insomnia, loss of appetite, energy, and a general sense of apathy.
Grief can affect your nervous system causing shortness of breath, headaches, muscle spasms,
stomach or chest pain, rapid heartbeat and other symptoms. Grief is usually associated with the
death of a loved one, but the emotion could come from disappointments over health, relationships,
 or even career.
While there is no quick cure that will help heal a broken heart, herbs, aromatherapy, relaxation
methods, and other natural remedies can help during the difficult mourning process.
Seeking help can also give you support in dealing with the grief, but keep in mind that emotion
is part of a necessary process that we all must experience and go through before we start to heal.
