Natural Ways To Deal With Bad Breath

Bad breath, or “ halitosis” can be a real embarrassment and cause us to shy away from others due to it. However, bad breath is a condition you can usually correct easily, by using sprays or mouth rinses but it would be wise to get to the cause of it.

The most obvious cause can be gum disease, poor dental hygiene, dry mouth, smoking, and chronic throat and nasal infection. Mouth or throat inflammation, as well as gasses that can travel up from the stomach when the digestive system is not functioning properly.

Drinking herbal tea such as: Myrrh, both an astringent and antibacterial is known for its ability to correct mouth and gum inflammation, and strengthen the gums.

Using Myrrh in a tincture form allows you to rinse or gargle with it and peppermint tea will help with digestion. Drinking sage tea helps with inflammation of the gums, mouth, and throat.

Does This Diet Work?

Red Wine

Lately everyone you talk to is either on a diet or watching their weight and wanting to lose a few pounds. There are so many diets on the market that it can literally make your head spin. Finding what diet suits your own individual style.

In the late 1930s a Dutch doctor called  Cornelius Moerman discovered that there was a lower incidence of cancers in certain regions where people regularly drank wine compared with other areas that had less consumption.

The doctor had found that acids and trace elements in wine naturally hinder tumor growth. According to his theory, cancer develops when the body lacks certain acids that acidify the blood and help prevent abnormal cell growth. The doctor also believed that certain  mineral deficiencies can make the body more susceptible to infections and tumors.

He developed a special diet that provides a balance of acids, vitamins, minerals, helps detoxify, stimulates immunity, and supports  the metabolism. But keep in mind this diet is not meant to replace a medical treatment.

Research has shown that daily consumption of red wine has many benefits. Red wine is rich in bioflavonoids, which help strengthen the heart tissue and reduces inflammation, which causes other diseases and cancers. However, drinking wine needs to be done in moderation.

My next post will delve deeper into this interesting diet.

Remedies For Skin Inflammations

I wrote a post about skin inflammations and causes. Well, here are a few natural remedies that can be used to help deal with the redness, itchiness, and discomfort of skin conditions.  The most important item to deal with is the diet. A diet that is low  in processed, hydrogenated and animal fats, yet high in essential fatty acids, like flaxseed, fish, or even primrose oil can help improve the skin.

Supplements can help by forming new skin cells and prevent bacteria into the cells. Zinc and Beta carotene are excellent supplements that will improve the skin.

Natural herbal remedies like -Calendula, licorice, work well to prevent inflammations.
Tea Tree oil- fights bacteria and fungus and prevents the germs from entering inflamed skin.
Peppermint essential oil is effective for dry, flaky, or itchy skin.

Conjunctivitis- Pink Eye

I have been writing about alternative medicine for quite some time....and I am hoping that some of you have learned or enjoyed reading about it, and that you could use it. I have not gotten any comments....so I am not sure that my readers are benefiting and or enjoying what I am posting. I truly believe that we could benefit with going back to nature and get off medications. Please leave me a comment if you would like to read something a little different or if I should continue on this vein.   Thanks

Everyone is aware of conjunctivitis (pink eye) - this is a inflammation of the outer covering of the white part
of the eye. The eye looks “pink” when you have conjunctivitis because the blood vessels are dilated.
Pink eye usually has a discharge and is rather uncomfortable however, vision is not affected. This condition is
either bacterial or viral and sometimes can even be an allergy. Viral conjunctivitis is more common and can last
several weeks and can accompany a cold or respiratory infection.
If pink eye is viral, antibiotics will not help and treatment usually is cold compresses or decongestants can be used,
and just let it run its course.
If pink eye is bacterial, it can be treated with a variety of antibiotics, such as eye drops or ointments’ which will
cure the infection within a day or two.  Conjunctivitis is very contagious so there should be no sharing of towels,
or pillowcases and your hands should be washed often.

Eyebright- is an anti-inflammatory herb that works quite well with eye irritations- just take 3 tsp of dried leaves, a dash of salt in one cup of boiling water...strain...apply with compress or use as a soothing eye rinse.
